Frequently asked questions

  • What type of accommodation can I expect on this trip?

The tour combines 7 nights on a sailboat (with 5 twin/double bed cabins and 5 bathrooms), 3 nights in hotels, and 2 nights in eco-lodges. On the sailboat, sleeping quarters are snug, rooming is assigned on arrival (no specific cabins guaranteed), and you will be sharing a bunk or double bed with a fellow passenger of the same sex. European hotels may have older architecture, and rooms/bathrooms can be small.
  • What is the physical rating for this tour?

This trip has a physical rating of 2. You should be able to climb small steep ladders, walk over a wooden plank without a handrail when boarding/disembarking, physically carry your own luggage, climb in and out of inflatable tenders, and comfortably move around the yacht while it is sailing and moving in waves.
  • What is the typical group size for this tour?

The maximum group size is 16 travelers, with an average of 12.
  • Are meals included in the tour price?

Five breakfasts, two lunches, and one dinner are included. For the sailing portion, your Skipper CEO will help organize a food kitty (approximately €70 per person per week) for small food items on board, covering breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. Most dinners during the sailing week will be taken ashore at local restaurants.
  • Who will be leading the tour?

A Skipper/Chief Experience Officer (CEO) will be with the group throughout your journey. The Skipper/CEO is fully licensed and responsible for sailing the yacht, ensuring your safety on board, and providing information on the places you visit, offering suggestions for activities and recommending local eating venues.
  • What forms of transportation are used on this trip?

Transportation includes a 16m (52 ft) sailing yacht, other boats, private bus, 4x4 vehicles, and walking.
  • What is the policy for solo travelers?

Single travelers are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation with someone of the same sex for the duration of the trip, so there is no single supplement for group trips.
  • What is the minimum age required to join this trip?

You must be 18 to travel unaccompanied. For minors travelling with a guardian over 21 years old, the minimum age is 12.
  • What currency is used, and how much spending money should I bring?

Euros (EUR) are accepted everywhere. It is recommended to have up to €300 in cash, as not all restaurants have credit card facilities. You can withdraw money from ATMs upon arrival.
  • Is travel insurance required for this trip?

Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. It must include a minimum of USD 200,000 for medical coverage, repatriation, and emergency rescue. It's also strongly recommended that the policy covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage and personal effects.
  • Are there any specific health considerations for this tour?

People who are sensitive to seasickness should come prepared. There is no constant power source on board the sailboat, so devices like Sleep Apnea/CPAP machines cannot be facilitated without bringing a suitable battery pack. It is recommended to consult your travel doctor for up-to-date medical travel information and inoculations well before departure.
  • How much fresh water is available on the sailboat?

Fresh water is very limited on board, so showers are restricted to one quick shower per person per day.
  • Can the tour itinerary change?

Yes, the itinerary may need to change due to inclement weather conditions. This decision will be made solely at your skipper's discretion, based on the safety of the group and the yacht.
  • What are some of the main highlights of this trip?

The trip highlights include discovering beautiful islands and beaches along the Croatian coastline, basking in the forested paradise of Mljet National Park, spending 2 nights at eco-lodges in the Montenegrin mountains, traversing mountains and forests by 4x4, and taking in the incredible scenery at Biogradska Gora National Park.
  • Are international flights included in this trip?

No, international flights are generally not included in the price of your tour. You are responsible for booking your own flights to and from the tour's start and end points.
  • Will I have opportunities to do laundry during the trip?

Laundry facilities are offered by some of our hotels and some harbors for a charge. There may be times when you will need to do your own laundry, so bringing non-polluting/biodegradable soap is suggested. Your CEO can also show you where to get laundry done.
  • What is the tipping etiquette on this tour?

Tipping is customary in Europe. A general rule is 10% for wait staff, and €1-€2 for other service providers. For local guides, €3-€5 per day is recommended. At the end of the trip, if you felt your CEO did an outstanding job, a minimum of €10 per person per day can be used as a guideline.
